'GPS for Mac v1.5' is Global Positioning System which is operated on Macintosh with SONY IPS-3000(or IPS-5000) GPS Module. IPS-3000(or IPS-5000) is easy-to-use GPS module and quite cool. It makes output in RS-232C signal about latitute, longitude, speed, height, time and so on. 'GPS for Macintosh v1.5' processes its information and shows it on macintosh display. This program, especially, is designed for PowerBook. (You can run this program desktop machine, also.)
IPS-3000(or IPS-5000) is walkman-size and costs 30,000 Yen(=US$370). At this time, IPS-3000 is discountinued, and IPS-5000 is available now. (IPS-5000 is smaller than IPS-3000 and consumes less power than IPS-3000. Except these, they are same and compatible.) I think it is reasonable price. I don't know that this product is available outside Japan.(My sister in Japan bought it for me. I am in Korea and Korean.) This PICT file shows interface circuit between IPS-3000(or IPS-5000) and Macintosh.

*** What informations does 'GPS for Mac v1.5' show?
'GPS for Mac v1.5' shows longitude, latitude, UTC time, speed, and its direction in text format. Double click on 'GPS for Mac v1.5' and see what kind of information you can get.
'GPS for Mac v1.5' shows UTC time or local time. It is selected in preference. In local time, you should specify time difference between UTC time and local time in preference dialog. As a example, it is '9' for Japan and Korea.
Now, path tracking mode is realized. This function will show you the path you've moved in six different zoom levels. This function does not need scanned map. It helps you remember return path and it is useful when you are travel the area you never visit, with or without map(paper). PICT files in 'Pict' show you how it works. I captured this screen shot when I was driving my car with GPS IPS-5000 and Duo280 in my hometown.
*** What informations will 'GPS for Mac v2.0' show?
'GPS for Mac v2.0' will have one more function. That is map tracking. You can see your current position on the map which is scanned by scanners. This function makes 'GPS for Mac v2.0' real GPS in car. Of course, you need to point two or three points in map for evaluations.
I am testing 'GPSfor Mac v2.0' with my car. It takes a lot of time and labor.
*** How can you register 'GPS for Mac v1.5'?
Send me a shareware fee and e-mail. 'GPS for Mac v1.5' has no serial number, but 'GPS for Mac v2.0' will have serial number and some disadvantage to unregistered users. Shareware fee for 'GPS for Mac v1.5' is $20. Shareware fee for 'GPS for Mac v2.0' will be $40. If you register v1.5, you will also get serial number for v2.0 after 'GPS for Mac v2.0' is completed.
